THE HISTORY OF
ISATT -
ISATT was founded in October 1983 at a Symposium for Research on Teacher Thinking at Tilburg University, The Netherlands.
The Association’s aim is to increase insights into the identity, role, contexts and work of teachers, and the process of teaching. Therefore, the key goals of ISATT are to enhance the quality of teaching at all levels of education and to act as a forum to promote, present, discuss and disseminate research findings which contribute to knowledge and the formation of theory in this field.
Welcome to the International Study Association on Teachers and Teaching – ISATT
ISATT celebrated its 40th anniversary at the 20th biennial Conference at the University of Bari, Italy, in 2023. Membership is available to individuals only, and currently ISATT has over 200 members from all over the world. All members receive the ISATT journal, Teachers and Teaching – Theory and Practice . As a result of a judgement made about the quality of its publications, articles in this journal are now listed in the Social Sciences Citation Index. In addition, ISATT offers a range of collaborative research grants to members, and travel bursaries are also available for student members. The biennial conferences are always well attended, and contribute to the ISATT Publication Series which includes selected papers and keynote presentations from each conferences. The Association also regularly engages in regional activities. Information on activities and publications are communicated to the ISATT membership via a newsletter and mailing list.
